January 1739/40 Survey for William and Jacob Gossett in New Castle, Co.
Parcel is referred to as "brothers portion" and survey makes reference to their father, John Gossett. Note that in the survey plat below, "north" -- though not explicitly indicated -- is apparently in the direction of the bottom of the map. This would put the plat in accord with the survey warrant (upper image), which specifies that the tract is on the south side of one of the most northerly branches of Blackbird Creek. Also, this would be in accord with the labeled bearings on the tract boundaries (i.e., the normal convention by which bearings are designated on surveys is that a bearing label is written in the direction to which it refers).
