Joseph C. Tyler was a brother to Fannie Tyler Holt, who married the Rev. Matthias Gossett. In otherwords, his sister became his mother-in-law, by both his first (Elizabeth) and second (Sarah) wives.
Evidence that Joseph C. Tyler married his widowed sister-in-law is the inscription on her tombstone in Gossett Hill Cemetery--Sarah J., wife of J. C. Tyler, along with dates of birth and death.
