He died on 29 DEC 1922 in Buford, Highland, OH.

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Lavina Roberts, who he married on 09 FEB 1865 in Highland Cnty, OH. Their seven known children were Wyatt H (1866-1903), Alva C. (1870-1937), Mary E (1873-?), Elmer Lee (1874-1941), Myrtie L (1877-1956), Verda M (1879-1956) and John "Albert" (1883-1914).

His second wife was Caroline "Carrie" M Faris, who he married in 1885 in Salem Twp, Highland, OH. Their three known children were Joseph "Clarence" (1886-?), Bessie C (1893-?) and Halder Hoyt (1893-1979).
