Jacob was born on 06 SEP 1770 in Fredrick Cnty, VA (Now Berkeley Cnty, WV), the son of MATTHIAS GOSSETT Sr. and MARY LITTLER.

He died on 30 OCT 1852 in Bath Cnty, KY.

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was MARY SARAH DUNHAM, who he married in BET 1790 AND 1792 in Virginia. Their five known children were Samuel (1793-1866), Hannah (1795-1851), MATTHIAS (1798-1874), Mary "Polly" (1800-1886) and John Dunham (c1809-1839).

His second wife was Elender Unknown Gossett, who he married in BET 1850 AND 1852 in Kentucky. They had no known children.

Berkeley County, Deed Book 19, p. 186, 6 Oct 1804--"Matthias Gossett of Berkeley County in consideration of one dollar to Jacob Gossett of Montgomery County, KY, a tract in Berkeley County, VA, consisting of 94 1/2 acres being part of a larger tract granted Gossett by patent by. . . " is evidence of the relationship between Matthias and his son Jacob Gossett.
