He died in 1845 in Ashtabula Twp, Jefferson, OH.

His wife was Nancy Crabb, who he married on 19 MAR 1812 in Berkeley Cnty, VA. Their eleven known children were William (?-?), Sarah Jane (?-?), Samuel (?-?), Nancy (?-?), Hanna (?-?), Matthias (1814-1908), Jacob (1821-?), Elizabeth (1831-1916), David Wyman (1836-1921), Mary (1838-?) and John Thomas (1848-?).

Believe that John, son of Matthias Gossett Jr, is first listed on the tax rolls of Berkeley Cnty, VA, in 1811 (over age 16 years) but probably age 21. This would produce a birth year of 1790.
