His wife was Elizabeth Ann Giffin, who he married on 12 FEB 1861 in Coles Cnty, IL. Their seven known children were Allen (1862-1865), John L. (1866-1943), Laura J. (1869-?), Lewis G. (1872-1873), Cora A. (c1874-1875), Emma Y. (1877-1880) and Mary M. (1881-?).
