His wife was ELIZABETH ELEANOR "Bettie" HAZELRIGG, who he married on 09 MAY 1867 in Bath Cnty, KY. Their eight known children were William "Willie" (1868-1883), Oliver "Ollie" (1870-1873), Chester H. (1872-1950), Charles Alban (1875-c1929), Annie B (1876-1945), Infant (1878-1878), Louis Edwin (1879-1886) and ROBERT CLYDE "RC or Clyde" (1883-1976).

Note 1

John Matthias Gossett, b. 1845, (son of Martin J. Gossett, b. 1817) is listed on 1880 census in Bethel, Bath County, KY; came to Davenport, Oklahoma, in Nov, 1903, from Bath County, KY; lived in Davenport, OK, in 1903 (per a letter from John Matthias Gossett to W. T. Gossett, Chickasha, OK, 1/16/1913). Later John Matthias Gossett moved to Edmond, OK, where his sons, Robert Clyde and Chester Gossett lived, and where he and his wife, Elizabeth Eleanor Hazelrigg both died and are buried. John Matthias states his immediate family came from Virginia to Clark County, KY, later divided into Bath County, KY; then he and his wife moved to Davenport, OK, then Edmond, OK, in 1921 where sons, Chester H., Robert Clyde and families already lived--and where they all died and are buried. Son Charles Alban Gossett and his wife Ruth Randel Gossett are also buried there also. John Matthias Gossett and Samuel Gossett (sons of Martin J. Gossett) are half brothers--John Matthias being the s/o Martin J. and Mary Atkinson Gossett. Samuel Gossett being s/o Martin J and his first spouse (name unknown). John Matthias Gossett served in Confederate Army during Civil War. John Matthias Gossett and Elizabeth Eleanor Hazelrigg had four (4) sons who are buried in Old Bethel Cemetery, Bethel, Bath Cnty, KY: Willie, Olie, Louis, and Infant son.

Note 3

The information was kept in the Bible of William Wright Hazelrigg, son of Joshua Hazelrigg and America Frances Wright. The Bible then passed to his son Robert Harrison Hazelrigg, who in turn gave it to this daughter Sue Nettie Hazelrigg Trumbo. In 1960 the Bible was in possession of her son Stanley Trumbo, Carlisle, KY. This was reported in Kentucky Ancestors, V 19 - 2, 1983.
